MSSM 2011



One of the major chess event in Malaysia, MSSM is just less than a week. All the states will be competing each other and of course lining up their best player in the squad. It will be a very intense 6 rounds competition as all the states are aiming only for 1 goal, the GOLD!
So which state will bag the most gold this year? Cast your vote on the side bar to support your state!

Its Gelfand against Anand!

Finally, Gelfand broke the dead lock after 5 straight draws to defeat Grischuk with white pieces in the 6th round. The Israel defeated Grischuk in just 35 moves.
With this victory, the world no.16 wins the right to challenge the world champion Vishy Anand of India for the world title next year!

Reminder: Warrior Weekender tomorrow


DATCC will be organizing its 3rd rapid weekender series with the Warrior Rapid Chess Weekend on Sunday, 22nd May 2011 starting with players registration and confirmation at 9:00am followed by Round 1 at 10:00am

Prize winners and prize fund has been increased to attract more players to participate in the 3rd edition with the Champion to earn RM350 and prizes given to the top 10 players. Other prizes include the Best Lady, Best Veteran and Best U12 players and category prizes for players rated in the 1600 category and 1400 category including Unrated players who has yet to earn MCF rating points.

This is a Nationally rated event where players can earn valuable rating points to improve their standings amongst local chess players. The previous 2 weekender events have been sent for rating and 9 players who participated in the DATCC Weekender series has topped the National top 20 most improved players for the period from Jan to April 2011.
