National Closed 2011 announced

It is
that time of the year again for the most important chess event in our
annual calendar – the National Closed. This is the main event that will
crown the best Men and Women player in the country, earning the coveted
National Master title. With the SEA Games event set to be staged towards
the end of the year, the top finishers in this year’s National Closed
will also earned the opportunities to be selected as Malaysia’s
representative in the regional biannual event.




The National Closed 2011 will be organized by Malaysian Chess Federation
(MCF) and jointly organized and hosted by the Dato Arthur Tan Chess
Center (DATCC). The details of the event are as follows:


Date : 16th March to 20th March 2011


Venue : Dato’ Arthur Tan Chess Center (DATCC),
4th Floor, Wilayah Complex,

No 2, Jalan Munshi Abdullah,
Kuala Lumpur



Tournament format is based on 9 Rounds Swiss
with Time Control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move per game per player



Entry Fees is FREE for the 2010 Champions (Open/Women) provided
registration is received before 1-Mar. After this date, a fee of RM50
shall be imposed.




Other Fees are based on FIDE Rating:

FIDE rating above 2000 RM 60


FIDE rating between 1600 & 1999 RM 100

FIDE rating below 1599 & UNRATED RM 150



20% discount if before 20-Feb (RM 54 / RM 80 / RM 120)

Normal charge if between 20-Feb and 13-Mar


50% penalty if after 13-Mar
(RM 90 / RM 150 / RM 225)



50% discount for State representatives

Limited to 1 Open and 1 Woman player per state

Registration confirmed and paid before 1-Mar

Players must be endorsed by State Association

- After 1-Mar, normal entry fee rate shall apply

Free registration if State player is above FIDE Rating of 2200



Entries limited to the first 120 players who have registered, confirmed and paid the entry fees for the event




Schedule of rounds, tie-breakers used, payment method, registration
forms including terms and conditions and other information about the
event are contained within the Registration Form.
