DATCC: 3 rapid events back to back

On 8th May, DATCC will be hosting the Insofar Chess Weekend with 4 events for chess players to choose fromincluding a Junior event for players below 12 years old with plenty of prizes up for grabs!


 

On 15th May, DATCC will assist in the running of the Ampang Chessmaster event to be held at Medan Selera Ampang Waterfront. With more than 20 prizes up for grabs, and a prize fund of more than RM 2,000, this event is organized by Ampang Jaya Chess Club together with the YB Ampang MP office.


Then on 22nd May 2011, DATCC weekender event returns with the DATCC Warrior Rapid Chess Weekend. This is the 3rd edition for 2011 with added prizes (from Champion to the 10th placing – previously, it was only until 6th placing) and increased prize fund for the top 4 winners. This is definitely an event not to be missed!!! Entry fee is RM30 for adults and RM20 for children below 12 years old

 

Both the Ampang Chessmaster and the DATCC Warrior Rapid Chess Weekend will be Nationally Rated….

Round 4 of SEA games selection and latest results


Venue: 1st floor, National Historical Muzium at Merdeka Square, Kuala Lumpur

Schedule 3rd Day: Sunday, 24th April 2011

Round 4: 9.00 am Round 5: 2.00 pm

** MCF will provided: Lunch Buffet for player.

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. CONDITIONS FOR DRAWN GAMES
  • A minimum f 20 moves must be made before two players can agree to a draw.
  • If players would like to agree on a draw before reaching the 20th move, players must seek the Chief Arbiter / Arbiter approval.
2. WAITING TIME
  • Waiting time is 30 minutes
3. TIE BREAK
  • P.E. will be used as the first tie break.
  • S.B. will be used as the second tie break
Note: For national Selection purposes, MCF is looking to secure only the top-4 players to represent the country in the upcoming SEA Games
.
4. WITHDRAWING FROM EVENT
  • Players who abandoned the event without any valid reason may face a 2 years ban from playing in any MCF event.
  • Players must submit the necessary documentation should they are not able to continue with the event.
5. SCORING PLAYERS WHO WITHDRAW FROM EVENT
  • All scores for played games will remain status quo
  • Players who have not played with the player who withdrew will score a point but, for calculate of tie break, the default Swiss manager parameter will be used i.e. " counted as a draw against the player himself"
6. APPEAL
  • All appeals must be submitted in writing to the Chief Arbiter within 30 minutes after the player's game has ended.
  • An appeal must be accompanied with an appeal fee of RM200 which will be refunded if the appeal is upheld.

It has also been agreed that if all games finishes earlier than schedule, the subsequent round may start 1 haur after the last game for the current round has completed.

UNIVERSIADE 2011 CHESS TEAM SELECTION

INTRODUCTION:

This tournament is sponsored by Majlis Sukan Universiti Malaysia (MASUM). The purpose of this tournament is to select players to represent Malaysia for the chess event in the Universiade 2011 in Shenzhen, China.

ELIGIBILITY:
This tournament is by  invitation  only. Anyone who fulfilled the following requirements can apply to  participate in this tournament. The application must be send to the organizing committee before 22 nd of  April. For the successful applicants the invitation will be send by 30 th of April.


1) Must be a Malaysian studying in an Institute of Higher Learning in Malaysia which includes
a. Institute of Higher Learning (Public / Private)
b. Community College
c. Polytechnic
d. College


2) Ratings criteria
a. Male
  i. Must Have FIDE rating more than 1950 according to the March 2011, FIDE rating list.
b. Female
  i. Must have FIDE rating according to the March 2011, FIDE rating list.

OR


i. MCF rating more than 1550 according to the January 2011 MCF rating list, and
ii. Have represented the state in the MSSM competition.

Application can be done by sending an email to siewcng@um.edu.my with the following particulars:
i. Name
ii. Institute of Higher Learning (Proof of attachment to the institute)
iii. Year of study and duration of the Program followed
iv. FIDE ratings
v. National Ratings*
vi. Proof of participation in MSSM*
*For females who does not have FIDE ratings

TOURNAMENT DETAILS:


This Tournament is organized by University of Malaya. There are two events running concurrently which is the

a) Male players selection, and

b) Female players selection.

The details of the event are as follows:
Date: May 20 th to May 22 nd , 2011
Venue: 5 th Residential College, University of Malaya
Format: 5 round Swiss
Time Control: 90 minutes per person
Registration Fees: RM 20


Note: The expected number of players is around 20 each for male and female. If the number of applicants is too high, the organizer reserves the right to reject players with the lower ratings.
